Dean, Beth & Grace BooteHello, I'm writing to tell you how the Big House Big Heart 5K personally affected my family. I apologize for too much detail but felt it was important to provide some history as to our connection with Mott's Children's Hospital that led up to the race. My wife and I recently spent 8 nights and days at Mott's following the birth of our 2nd child, Jake William Boote. |
Steve BorgsdorfMy family of Ann Arbor ran in the Big House Big Heart run. I am 30, my brother Dave, (a teacher at Thurston) is 34, and our parents are 63. Dave and I were raising money for Community Action Network, our parents for Mott, and there was a little competition regarding who would win. I have barely run anywhere since being a River Rat cross-country runner (come to think of it, Dave used to be captain of the Huron track team and probably hasn't run since then either). Our parents run every day. I was the slowpoke at 30:57, dad next at 30:12. Mom won, posting a 29:08, and beating Dave by one second. She has been gleefully exercising her bragging rights... Troy CookeHello. I am Troy Cooke and I ran the Big House Big Heart 5K race. At the age of 11 I thought it would be just a little fun. But I was wrong … IT WAS A BLAST!!! I made some new friends. There was a ton of people, and there were so many kids you’d be amazed. I saw about 7 kindergartners running the 1 mile race. We met this other kid who had run 3 other races. I would definitely recommend it as a family activity. I would easily run this again next year. I say you should do the same and you never know, you could find a running partner who could become a good friend. |
