Mission: The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers, guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Main target: Our chapter serves the entire Washtenaw County community. Each year we deliver emergency services to over 100 families who experience home fires or other disaster, train more than 60,000 students of all ages in lifesaving skills such as first aid and CPR; deliver emergency messages for 1500 families with loved ones in the armed forces; and provide 97% of the blood and blood products needed by Washtenaw County hospitals.

What you wish to do with the funds raised: We wish to maintain our current lifesaving programs which are threatened due to the effects of the economic downturn over the last two years. The Chapter does not receive on-going or direct funding from the government or the national American Red Cross to do its work. The chapter relies upon local support from individuals and corporations, as well as donations of time and blood to do its work.
