Mission or Goal: Interpreter Services provides interpretation and translation to Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients of all languages, 24/7, throughout the University of Michigan Health System.

We're committed to:

* Helping LEP patients feel safe and empowered, despite their language barriers

* Educating patients and families about their right to receive language assistance

* Raising UMHS staff’s awareness of the impact of culture and language on health care delivery

* Making medical documents available in patients'most common languages

* Providing accurate translations of medical and billing records sent from abroad

* Maintaining demographic, cultural and epidemiological profiles of the LEP community

* Collaborating with local ethnic communities to help them receive the care they deserve

Main target audience/recipients: Limited English Proficient patients and their families at the University of Michigan Health System

What you wish to do with funds raised: Maintain and enhance our services to patients, families and medical providers
